Mats Wilander hailed ’s display against as ‘absolute perfection’ after the Serb claimed a record seventh Australian Open title.
The 54-year-old Swede – a seven time Grand Slam champion – was stunned by the performance of the world No. 1 as he humbled Nadal in a 6-3 6-2 6-3 win.
It took Djokovic just two hours and four minutes to dismantle the 2009 champion, hitting 34 winners and just nine unforced errors across the three sets.
And Wilander believes the Serb was simply ‘unbeatable’.
‘Absolute perfection from Novak Djokovic once again,’ Wilander told
‘I didn’t think he could repeat what he did in the semi-finals but he did, and we shouldn’t be surprised, but we are, I certainly am surprised Rafa didn’t push him harder.
‘But Rafa is on his way back, had an unbelievable start to the year, made the finals here but Novak had just found it here, and he was unbeatable.
‘It will be interesting to see if they can both maintain this form, going in to American, Miami and Indian Wells then of course in to the clay court season.
‘French Open? Is this the year Novak can win another French Open, beat Rafael Nadal? I bet this man can’t wait for the clay court season to come around, he can’t wait to have the opportunity to beat Rafa on clay in a final.’
