So it appears that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez really needs to learn the ABC’s of Economics 101 before espousing her .
I find it hard to accept that AOC, 29, who graduated from Boston University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and studies in Economics, believes she has the economic solutions for America.
She said that “a system that allows billionaires to exist” is immoral. So what should we do with them? She later said, “I don’t think that necessarily means that all billionaires are immoral,” citing Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, and their philanthropy.
Which is one of my points. We all start with nothing, but a very few create billions by building vast corporations that employ many thousands of people.
In aggregate, they create millions of jobs, with health insurance and 401(k)s and, often, enough to help workers pay for their kids to go to college. Where’s the evil in that?
It’s Econ 101: You’re entitled to nothing. Wealth is earned, not granted by government.
And that is what makes America so great. Anyone can be anything here — even a kid from The Bronx.
