A driver has been caught trying to dress his Renault Megane up as a luxury Mercedes.
But it wasn’t just the car’s stick-on grill and Mercedes badge, or even its diamanté trim meant to mimic LED headlights, that drew attention.
The deluded driver had also managed to display a dodgy bit of parking by stopping diagonally across a disabled bay.
Rob Farrell saw the car parked outside a Tesco in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, on Friday and felt forced to share pictures of the unusual modifications.
He posted photos of the car on Facebook telling his followers he had been ‘crying with laughter for hours’.
‘I’m sorry but this just has to be seen to be believed,’ Rob wrote.
‘Not only is he parked in a semi-c*****h manner but the dude has camouflaged his Renault Megane Cabriolet into a f*****g Merc.’
He added: ‘I don’t know what’s worse… the fabricated Merc grill and badges or those hideous diamanté looking LED lights stuck around the headlights.
Rob also referred to the car hybrid as ‘Frankenstein’s monster’ and he wasn’t the only person to be taken aback by the re-vamp.
Georgina Giles said she drove around the car park twice because: ‘I couldn’t believe my eyes.’
Tali Boulton said: ‘I literally have no words. Best laugh I’ve had in a long time.’
The 2008 Megane II coupe would sell for around £1,500 on the used car market, while a similar Mercedes Benz A-Class hatchback is offered for around £15,000 on Auto Trader.
