Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk is still struggling with an illness and the club’s medical team fear he will miss Wednesday night’s clash against at Anfield.
The Dutch defender has been ever-present for his side this season and has not missed a match since a trip to Huddersfield last January.
However, , he still has not returned to training after picking up an illness during last week’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai and is sweating over his availability.
The German tried to play down the illness previously, saying: ‘[A couple of players] are ill. So, that’s the weather change, little things. No, it’s nothing we have to be too concerned about.’
But Van Dijk was absent once again from Liverpool training, missing their penultimate session at Melwood on Monday night.
He will have one last opportunity to prove his fitness in Tuesday’s final training session, but he has yet to be given the green light to take part.
If Van Dijk misses the clash with Leicester, Dejan Lovren is on standby to come into the starting XI and will partner Joel Matip.
Fabinho was suffering from the same illness as Van Dijk but took part in Monday’s training session and could fill in at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold injured and James Milner suspended.
